  3. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended discrimination based on race, gender, religion or national origin. This law also ended unfair voting registration for minors and ended segregation in schools and other public facilities.

    1. Such a law as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was necessary because even though amendments had been passed to guarantee rights like voting and no segregation, discrimination was still permitted. People could still prevent African-Americans from voting through loopholes and deny people jobs based on their religion or gender. This act was necessary in helping limit the prejudice and discrimination that still hadn't ended because it made it illegal to discriminate.

    2. Elaborating on your comment, voting loopholes that prevented African-Americans from voting were white primaries, poll taxes, and literacy tests.

    3. Although, I think this law still had a lot of flaws and didn’t end a lot of discrimination, it was still a huge stride for equality. There were obviously still loopholes, like Cassidy talked about, but we started to notice that there was a problem especially when it comes to voting.

    4. I think that the law was necessary to at least start the process of ending discrimination however, it is going to take a long time to completely end the discrimination in the United States.

  4. This law was necessary to achieve full equality in the nation and made sure the minority was represented in society and that you couldn't segregate just because you had greater representation in the United States (White males) This act also allowed titles into government as well including title IV which encouraged desegregation in schools and title VII which allowed businesses to be an equal opportunity employer.
