What form of 'mass media' do you think is most influential?

  1. I think that the most influential form of mass media is the internet. Over the years, the internet has become a larger part of everyone’s lives. News is able to be spread quickly over the internet so many people now rely on the internet to get news. News can be posted and shared more rapidly over the internet than other forms of mass media such as television. Also, the internet provides a plethora of information right at your fingertips. Anything can be searched on the internet to help you learn more. The internet has allowed people all over the world to communicate their thoughts and opinions with others miles away.

    1. I agree I think that the internet is the most influential form of media. I think that the internet has changed politics in so many ways. I think that it has changed the way politics are ran, the way people look at politics and the types of people that few and read stuff on politics. It has made access to information so much easier and it has allowed. Like Allison said it has also has made communication way easier for people all around the world.

    2. While I agree the Internet has definitely been a big influencer of mass media, I think television has been the biggest influence. With the growth of cable TV news channels, television has recently entered a new era of bringing the news to people and to political leaders as it happens. Almost all of the time, the news is brought to you live as it happens, and is broadcast from where something is taking place. Sometime in the not-too-distant future it is expected that most cable systems will offer 500 channels. As the number of channels increases, it is clear that anyone who is really interested in politics will find more political information readily available than ever before. (Edwards 226).

    3. I agree that the internet is the most influential form of mass media. While not everyone actively searches for news online, just about everyone has fallen for click-bait. What's that? President Obama made a face behind Putin's back and an important visit to Russia? Donald Trump no longer wants to build a wall, but take over Mexico (and Canada will pay for it!)? Although these are extreme (and obviously fake) examples, it's titles such as these that quickly grab the attention of people. I agree with Taylor that it has changed the way politics are ran.

  2. I agree with Maggie that the form of ‘mass media’ that is the most influential is the television. Many people hear about the news through the TV stations they watch. Younger people are likely to learn from the TV shows that they watch and older people are likely to learn from the network TV news: CBS,NBC, and ABC.( pg 226 Edwards) With many people watching TV more, it is easier to get news and information out to people via the television. Also, when most people want to know about the news they go to the TV to show them the most up-to-date information. Therefore; making television the most influential form of mass media.

    1. I believe that the most influential form of mass media has been the newspaper. Newspapers jump started mass media and getting word out to people. Before phones and internet and television people relied on newspapers to give them news about their local community, state, and the national government. The newspaper is what helped spark all of the other forms of mass media. Now we can even get newspapers on the internet because newspapers are an excellent way to convey information to people and has been since the beginning.

  3. I believe the most influential form of mass media is music. Music has been around since man has been able to sing and make a beat. Music has been through generations and has influence culture as a result of emotional enlightenment. Music has also affected the values of people, which then translates into their political ideology.
