Ch 19 - Federal Legislation

Identify and explain the federal laws and agencies that have been created involving environmental regulation / protection.

  1. An agency that helps to regulate and protect the environment is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They is in charge of administering policies that deal with the land, air and the water quality. A few laws have been made to also protect the environment. Those are the Clean Air Act of 1970. The Clean Air Act was set up to help reduce automobile emissions. The Water Pollution Control Act of 1972 tried to help limit the pollution. The Endangered Species Act of 1973 was created as an endangered species protection program. (pg 607-608 Edwards)
