  1. Containment is the policy that the United States used during the Cold War so that they could contain Communism in the USSR. The Cold War was a race between the US and USSR to have get to the moon, achieve nuclear weapons, and become the greatest world power. I believe the most important event in the cold war was Neil Armstrong and NASA reaching the moon because it set the stage that the US was always going to be better than the USSR, as they were with Sputnik.

    1. In my opinion the most important event during the Cold War was the Vietnam War. The Vietnam war allowed both the U.S. and Soviets to support opposing sides without having to wage war directly on one another. Also, the Vietnam War led to the passing of the War Powers Act, which restricted to presidents power to send troops to hostilities for more than 60 days without the approval of Congress.

  2. I think the creation of the Berlin Wall was the most significant event of the cold war era. This is because it did not only create a symbolic division of Germany and Berlin based on ideologies, it also was an actual physical thing that people were forced to take notice of and see the undeniable division of Berlin from 1961-1989.

    1. In my opinion, the most important event of the Cold War would have to be the Cuban Missile Crisis. This is when the US discovered nuclear missile centers under construction in Cuba, which were believed to be from the Soviet Union. They were from the Soviet Union, which the US soon found out, and the US took some missiles out of Turkey in exchange for the de armament of the Cuban island. This is one of the reasons that the US has a shaky relationship with Cuba, and has impacted our relationship with them greatly.
