Ch 3 - Fiscal Federalism

What is fiscal federalism? Is it a good thing for our nation?

  1. “Fiscal federalism is the pattern of spending taxing and providing grants in the federal system; it is the cornerstone of the national government’s relations with state and local government.” Fiscal federalism is good thing for this country because fiscal federalism is the way the the national government can give money to the state and local government. This helps aid the local and state government in what they need to get done. Over the years the national government has provided more grants to state and local government. In 2010 the states and local government got $484 billion in federal aid to help them with whatever they needed.

    1. I agree that fiscal federalism is a good thing because it is a way for the federal government to give money to state and local governments. I think that without the donation of money to local governments there would be a shortage in drive-able roads, lack of construction, jobs, and assistance programs run by state.

  2. 2. Fascial Federalism attempts to define the division of governmental functions, and the financial relationship between, different levels of government (usually how federal or central governments fund state and local governments). Fascial Federalism can be bad for our country because a lot of the money the federal government gets is given to the states. The government today spends a lot of money on different benefit programs and they need the extra money, with the states relying on the national government for a lot of money it limits the states from being able to make their own money.
