  1. The four types of interest groups are economic, environmental, equality, and consumers and public. Economic interest groups are primarily concerned with wages, prices, and profits. Labor and business interest groups fall into this category. An example of an economic interest group is the AFL-CIO. Environmental interest groups are ultimately concerned with the environment they are environmentalists. An example of an environmental interest group is the Audubon Society. Equality interest groups main policy goal is equal rights. An example of this interest group is the NAACP. A consumers and public interest group seek “a collective good, the achievement of which will not selectively and materially benefit the membership or activists of the interest group.” An example of this type of interest group is Common Cause. (Edwards 348-355)

  2. I think the most important interest groups are environmental and equality. A reason I think environmental is important is because they are concerned with the health and sustainability of the environment. A reason I think equality is important is because all people should be given the same opportunities in life, regardless of whether or not they pursue them.
