  1. I agree with Sidney Blumenthal's 'permanent campaign" thesis because of our modern technology today, we find news about the "next election". For example, during this 2016 Presidential Election, we hear that a certain celebrity is running for POTUS for 2020 and no one has stopped talking about it since the news was leaked. The public wants to know who will be the next leader of this country, so the media pushes news about future elections. And don't forget, campaigns give excitement to the people and without the excitement, the media wouldn't be giving reporting news about something the public isn't interested in. So yes, Blumenthal is right in that there is no break in between one campaign and the next.

    1. Laura has some very good points but I do not agree with Sideny Blumenthal's 'permanent campaign' thesis. Having the media with you is a very good thing for you as a candidate. It can help you out when you are running for a position. However the media does not get you votes. Patronage and people supporting your political party will get you more votes than the media. Patronage and your political party is more important than the media.

    2. I would have to disagree with Dalton and agree with Blumenthal's permanent campaign thesis. I believe that America doesn't have much, if any, of a break between elections. This is one of the reasons that I think people do not go out and vote at elections like they should, they are tired of all the campaigning and nonstop politics.

  2. I would also have to agree with Laura and Austin about Sidney Blumenthal's ‘permanent campaign’ thesis. Her thesis is that the people voting in elections don’t have very much time between elections and, therefore; there is to be a ‘permanent campaign’. I agree that there isn’t enough time between elections. There is four years between each presidential election but as soon as the new president is elected people wanting to run for the next term are already trying to promote themselves and their ideas to the public. For this reason I agree with Sidney Blumenthal’s thesis.
