  1. People claim that we need deregulation because regulation has made prices increase and "hurts America's competitive position abroad" (edwards book pg 495). However, I disagree with the idea of deregulation. While it would be nice to let businesses run things their own way, the regulations are there to protect us. Regulations help prevent monopolies as well as keep us safe. Food regulation has helped us eat foods that won't make us sick or take drugs that will have horrible side effects. I don't think that we should be taking steps back from this. Overall deregulation is a bad idea because the regulations are there for our own good, to protect us and keep business fair.

  2. I agree with the idea that deregulation is a bad thing. Without certain regulations, businesses would not take the public into consideration as much. Without rules and regulations, businesses most likely wouldn’t care about their emissions and wastes dumped into the environment, resulting in the destruction of a great deal of land and wildlife. Deregulation would expose many consumers to fraud and excessive risk taking because most companies would only be concerned with making money.

  3. While I understand with both Erin and Avery, I have to disagree. I do not believe we should deregulate everything that has to deal with businesses, but a small amount of deregulation could help bring corporations back into America. Many people blame the heavy taxation on businesses as the reason to why businesses are going outside of America. While complete and total deregulation would create a disaster of corruption and monopolies a small amount of deregulation could be beneficial to society.
