Ch 12 - Effectiveness of Congress

Is Congress an effective institution. Give specific examples comparing Congress to other aspects of American society while explaining your answer.

  1. In my opinion Congress is an ineffective institution due to the fact that its organization is not like that of other jobs in American society. Members of Congress are not required to be present at all times when Congress is in session. Also, Congress is a group of people with different interests. Within a corporation, all employees most likely have the same goal, to make the company better.

  2. I disagree with Jarett in that congress is an effective organization because if you look at the smaller state legislatures and other groups in power, congress has a higher success rate even with being regulated by two other groups in government.
