  1. The major leadership positions in Congress are President pro tem of the Senate, Speaker of the House, Speaker pro term, Minority and Majority Caucus chairs and Majority and Minority Whips. I think that the Speaker of the House is the most important congressional leader. The Speaker of the house serves as the presiding officer of the U.S House of Representatives. The Speaker represents constituents, is an administrative head of the House, and serves as leader of the majority political party in the house. The Speaker is also second in line to the Vice President for the presidency. I think that the Speaker is important because of the vast number of responsibilities that the position requires to be fulfilled.

    1. I disagree with Erin, I believe that the majority and minority whips are the most important position in congress. The Whips are the enforcers of congress. The Whips make sure that congress members are following party rules and participating with the party. They do this by using threats and punishments. This is important because it makes sure that congress members do their jobs and play with their party.

  2. I believe the most important leadership position in Congress is held by the Vice President of the United States. This is the position of President of the Senate. In the occurrence of a tie, the VP votes to break the tie. As President of the Senate, he/she can influence those voting and although the tie-breaker vote is rarely needed, it serves to be very valuable at times. The last time the VP voted was in 2005, so it wasn't too long ago.

  3. I agree with Blake because the vice president's main power is only to provide over the senate and tie break, meaning that in terms of power and importance having him on your side is extremely beneficiary.
