Ch 16 - Selecting a Supreme Court Case

What is a 'writ of certiorari'?
What is the rule of four?
Is  it right that the Supreme Court can limit the cases it reviews?

  1. The rule of four is the way that Supreme Court judges pick the cases that they hear. Basically what must happen for a case to be considered is that four of the judges must vote in favor of a case for it to be considered.

    1. I feel that it is right that the Supreme Court can limit the cases that it reviews. If the Supreme Court justices did not have a say of the cases that they heard, they would become inundated with other cases that would have been able to be dealt with at a lower court level. In order for the Supreme Court to be the well functioning and efficient machine that it is, it must continue to be able to have the say in what cases they feel are relevant and of high importance to be heard.

  2. A writ of certiorari is a request seeking judicial review from higher courts asking lower or the previous courts records and rulings for a review
